ISLAND IDOLS
by Alex Gupton

THE STORY
The mural depicts two Moorish Idols against a teal and blue ocean gradient background. The Idols include the artist’s signature style of inked details decorating their skin. If you look closely, you will see nods to the surrounding businesses that make up BREW including but not limited to Kona Brewing Company, Puna Chocolate Co., and Willie’s Hot Chicken. The artwork was conceptualized and sketched on paper originally before being projected onto the wall for painting prep. Alex used a combination of techniques to create the mural including spray painting, paint rolling and intricate detailing with a brush.
